What is a Home Energy Management System?

A HEMS (Home Energy Management System) helps you get the most out of your solar installation. It monitors your PV production in real-time and automatically steers connected devices like EV chargers, heat pumps, and smart plugs to maximize self-consumption.

What SolarEdge offers on its own

Before connecting SolarEdge to Zerofy, it helps to know what SolarEdge offers on its own:

• EV charging: SolarEdge sells its own EV charger, controlled from the mySolarEdge app. With the SolarEdge ONE Controller (inverter firmware 4.22 or later), mySolarEdge can instead run one third-party OCPP 1.6J charger with Excess Solar charging: MENNEKES AMTRON, Wallbox Pulsar Max/Plus/Pro, Alfen Eve S-line/Pro-line or ABB Terra AC. Only one charger can be used at a time.
• Heating: The SolarEdge Home Load Controller switches the SG Ready input of most air-to-water heat pumps on excess solar, with two configurable set points; it connects to the inverter via the SolarEdge Home Network and needs no ONE Controller. Vaillant heat pumps from 2018 with EEBUS can be controlled through the ONE Controller, and the SolarEdge Home Hot Water Controller feeds surplus into an immersion heater.
• Other loads: The Home Load Controller also switches other loads such as pool pumps or air conditioners (2 × 8 A NO and 1 × 4 A NC contacts, larger loads via an external contactor) and can turn them off as non-essential loads during a power outage.

Good to know: Your account needs the Owner role, which the installer usually assigns to the system owner during setup; ask your installer if you don’t have it. Battery and meter data depend on how your system is configured.
