Enphase HEMS: TL;DR

Zerofy transforms your Enphase PV system into a complete Home Energy Management System (HEMS). Monitor production, optimize self-consumption, and control your connected devices – all from one app. No additional hardware required.

About Enphase

Enphase Energy (Fremont, California) makes microinverters: each panel gets its own IQ8 unit of about 300–330 VA, connected through an IQ Gateway. The AC-coupled IQ Battery 5P adds storage in 5 kWh steps, and everything is monitored in the Enphase App (Enlighten). Its monitoring app is Enphase App / Enlighten.

What is a Home Energy Management System?

A HEMS (Home Energy Management System) helps you get the most out of your solar installation. It monitors your PV production in real-time and automatically steers connected devices like EV chargers, heat pumps, and smart plugs to maximize self-consumption.

With Zerofy as your Enphase HEMS, you can:

  • Monitor real-time solar production and home consumption
  • Optimize self-consumption through intelligent device control
  • Save on electricity bills with dynamic tariff integration
  • Track your energy independence and CO₂ savings

Key Features

Real-time Monitoring

See live data from your Enphase inverter: current production, consumption, grid feed-in, and battery status.

Smart Autopilot

Automatically control EV charging, heat pumps, and appliances based on solar surplus.

Dynamic Tariffs

Integrate electricity spot prices (Tibber, aWATTar, etc.) to optimize for cost savings.

What Enphase offers on its own

Before connecting Enphase to Zerofy, it helps to know what Enphase offers on its own:

  • EV charging: Enphase sells its own IQ EV Charger 2, shipping in 14 European markets since March 2025, with a Green Charging mode that uses only surplus solar and automatic 1-/3-phase switching, so charging can start from about 1.38 kW. Third-party chargers can be controlled via OCPP 1.6J through the IQ Energy Router (up to two chargers), but only models on Enphase’s supported list.
  • Heating: The IQ Energy Router+ (IQ Energy Router plus Energy Meter and SG Ready Relay) controls one SG Ready heat pump. It only uses SG Ready states 2 (normal) and 3 (recommended on), and Enphase publishes wiring guides for Daikin Altherma 3, Vaillant aroTherm plus and iDM.

How It Works

  1. Connect your Enphase system – Zerofy connects to your system through the Enphase cloud: you log in with your Enphase Enlighten credentials and Zerofy reads PV production, meter (consumption) and battery data.
  2. Add your devices – Connect your EV, charger, heat pump, or smart plugs
  3. Enable Autopilot – Let Zerofy automatically optimize for solar self-consumption
  4. Track your savings – Monitor your energy independence and cost savings
